Welcome Message
Heart Congress 2017

Guy Hugues Fontaine

Dear colleagues and friends,

As a Keynote Speaker and Organizing Committee Member, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to attend the World Heart Congress during May 22- 24, 2017 in the beautiful city of Osaka which was the capital of Japan before the move to Tokyo.

I like this city which remembers me to be invited during a fabulous week in 1983 to give the most important lecture in Japan which is called the “Mikamo lecture. I was invited in Japan to meet Dr. Mikamo on year before his lecture. However, something strange happened before I had to go to the podium to speak before 2,500 cardiologists from Japan. After my talk on the surgical treatment of cardiac arrhythmias it was said by the Chairman that Dr. Mikamo was found dead at home in his bath at 4:00 am. I was told by Pr Kunitake Hashiba (the Japanese Long QT syndrome expert) not to be sad, that will make my lecture even more memorable…

The World Heart Congress will provide enough space for discussion, meetings and workshops in order to allow a close contact between speakers and visitors.

Cardiology -specialized physicians and scientists from all over the world are invited to Osaka in 2017 to present the new research and inventions. From prevention to optimal care the whole range of heart diseases will be presented with world-class professors and scientists as well as health care professionals.

We are looking forward to see you in Osaka, Japan

Track 1: Heart Disease & Failure

Heart disease describes a range of conditions that affect your heart. Diseases under the heart disease umbrella include blood vessel diseases, such as coronary artery disease; heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias); and heart defects you're born with i.e. congenital heart defects, Rheumatic heart disease, Hypertensive heart disease, Ischemic heart disease, Hypertension and many more.

Heart failure is a condition in which your heart can't pump enough blood to meet your body's needs. The term “heart failure” doesn't mean that your heart has stopped or is about to stop working. However, heart failure is a serious condition that requires medical care. If you have heart failure, you may tire easily and have to limit your activities. CHD can lead to heart failure by weakening the heart muscle over time.

Track 2: Heart Diagnosis

Medical diagnosis is based on information from sources such as findings from a physical examination, interview with the patient or family or both, medical history of the patient and family, and clinical findings as reported by laboratory tests and radiologic studies. The diagnosis of heart can be carried out by various methods such as by Imaging techniques, Surgeries, electrophysiology, angiography, radiography etc. Medical care is very essential once the heart disease is diagnosed. The goals of treatment are stabilizing the condition, controlling symptoms over the long term, and providing a cure when possible. Stress reduction, diet, and lifestyle changes are  key in managing heart disease, but the mainstays of conventional care are drugs and surgery.

Track 3: Heart Devices

Heart Devices are electronic devices for assisting cardiac circulation, which is used either too partially or to completely replace the function of a failing heart. The evolution of these wireless cardiac monitoring devices is marking a new era in medicine and a transition from population-level health care to individualized medicine in which suitable patients are equipped with advanced biosensors that, in turn, have their data processed through sophisticated algorithms to predict events before they occur. The pacemaker, defibrillators, biosensors are the heart devices used in treatment of heart diseases.

Track 5: Diabetes, Obesity & Stroke

Obesity increases the risk for heart disease and stroke. But it harms more than just the heart and blood vessel system. It's also a major cause of gallstones, osteoarthritis and respiratory problems. Obesity is intimately intertwined with multiple health conditions that underlie cardiovascular disease including high blood pressure, diabetes, and abnormal blood cholesterol. In addition, weight gain is a frequent consequence of heart-damaging lifestyle choices such as lack of exercise and a fat-laden diet. Obesity also can lead to heart failure. This is a serious condition in which your heart can't pump enough blood to meet your body's needs. Having diabetes or pre diabetes puts one at increased risk for heart disease and stroke. One can lower its risk by keeping the  blood glucose (also called blood sugar), blood pressure, and blood cholesterol close to the recommended target numbers—the levels suggested by diabetes experts for good health. Stroke and coronary heart disease can be caused by the same problem – atherosclerosis
